Reeling from the time change? I found these fantastic Pi Day discounts (plus a party at San Francisco’s Exploratorium!) that should make for a great recovery day! Please share some of your favorite “Pi” pictures with me on my Instagram.
These deals are way too delicious to pass up, brought to us by Heath Owens via Good Housekeeping US and Linda Zavoral via Bay Area News Group.
Mathematicians’ favorite holiday is upon us! Pi Day, which falls on Monday, March 14 this year, is an annual holiday devoted to celebrating the only true magic number: π. Sure, pi is 3.14, a mathematical constant, never-ending, the circumference-to-diameter ratio of a circle — you know the drill. But, it is also the perfect excuse to indulge in pies of all sorts, thanks to the restaurants and bakeries who celebrate the fun holiday by offering deals, discounts, and freebies. Whether you’re a fan of pizza or traditional dessert pies (or both, of course!), you’re sure to find a deal that will satisfy your craving and save you some cash.
You don’t have to remember that pi represents the ratio of a circle’s circumference to its diameter (yeah, we always have to look that up) to take advantage of these pizza pie and other pie-related promotions:
-
First, the party: San Francisco’s Exploratorium, which created this holiday back in 1988, will host a celebration of what it calls “the irrational, transcendent, and never-ending ratio that helps describe circles of all sizes.” Monday’s event, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., will feature art, music, spoken word and plenty of numerical fun. Find details and order tickets at exploratorium.edu.
