It feels like 2024 is flying by and I cannot believe we are almost halfway throug the year. June is typically a very busy real estate month, as the end of the school year makes it easier for certain buyers and sellers to make a move.

To mark the beginning of the new month, here are some fun facts about June:

Name Origin: June is named after Juno, the Roman goddess of marriage and childbirth. It was considered a lucky month to get married.

Longest Day of the Year: The summer solstice occurs in June, typically around the 20th or 21st, marking the longest day of the year and the official start of summer in the Northern Hemisphere.

  • The combined size of the three US States with the biggest GDP – California, Texas and New York – is about the same as the next 10, combined: Florida, Pennsylvania, Illinois, Ohio, Georgia, New Jersey, North Carolina, Washington, Massachusetts and Virginia…….and that total is about the total of the 35 US states with the lowest GDP combined.

  • Are homes and buildings big polluters? Not even close when compared to super-yachts: The annual CO2 emissions of the top 300 superyachts is almost 285,000 tons, an amount more than the entire nation of Tonga. Worldwide, the average person produces about 4 tons of carbon dioxide each year. In the US, each person produces about 16 tons of carbon dioxide each year. Together, home heating and cooling is responsible for roughly 441 million tons of carbon dioxide annually.

  • Up to $68 million in coins is thrown away each year in the US…..in case you are looking for some free money: look down on the street past your i-phone screen….

  • Real disposable incomes have risen only modestly over the past year. The saving rate now stands at a 16-month low as households have mostly exhausted the extra pile of cash they squirreled away during the pandemic. In turn, many Americans are increasingly relying on credit cards and other sources of financing to support their spending. All this could lead to a FED pivot…. (BLOOMBERG)

  • In 2019 less than 10 million U.S. families had more than $1 million in wealth. In 2022 it was 16 million. We increased the number of millionaire households by 60% in just 3 years, mainly self-made wealth. Only 21% of US millionaires have received any inheritance. There are 600,000 millennial millionaire households, and while the average millennial has 30% less wealth at the age of 35 than baby boomers did at the same age … the top 10% of millennials have 20% more wealth than the top baby boomers at the same age.

Please let me know if I can ever be of assistance, in any way, to you or your family, friends and colleagues.
